See near-Earth asteroids “Live!” as we activate MIT’s direct control link to NASA’s Infrared Telescope on Mauna Kea, Hawaii. Our science goal is to measure the infrared colors of Earth-crossing asteroids to deduce their compositions. Learn “live” first hand how MIT scientists telescopically characterized the asteroid “Bennu” as a carbon-rich target linked to the early solar system, now the destination for NASA’s OSIRIS-REx mission.

The link will be “Live,” stop by anytime 5:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon EDT | Control Room Location: Building 54-427
