ES&T’S BEST PAPERS OF 2016

By Lauren Hinkel

Each year, the journal of Environmental Science & Technology (ES&T) selects exceptional papers from the previous year in the categories of Environmental Science, Environmental Technology, Environmental Policy, and Feature Articles for special recognition. Out of approximately 1,600 papers published in ES&T in 2016, “…some papers were particularly memorable because they introduced important new ideas or applied cutting-edge tools to solve critical societal problems.”

Congratulations to PAOC and IDSS Associate Professor Noelle E. Selin, the Laboratory for Aviation and the Environment’s Philip J. Wolfe, Akshay Ashok, Steven R. H. Barrett, and Institute for Data, Systems, and Society’s Amanda Giang for receiving Top Paper in Environmental Policy. Their publication “Costs of IQ Loss from Leaded Aviation Gasoline Emissions,” was the first assessment of the annual costs of IQ loss due to lead emissions from aircraft for the continental United States.
